New recordings of two favorites

I am about to finish an apprenticeship with Opera Santa Barbara, where I have been for the past four weeks. It has been a wonderful learning experience, not least of which my training with genius director James Marvel who has an incredible gift of taking complex ideas and putting them in simple, actionable terms that immediately raised my performance to a much higher level.

In the first week of the apprenticeship, Opera Santa Barbara paid for a hurried recording session, which I used to record a couple of my standard opera aria offerings – “Una furtiva lagrima” from Elixir of Love and “Vainement, ma bien-aimee” from Le Roi D’Ys by Edgard Lalo.

I’m not completely happy with the Elixir aria, as I allowed some technical flaws to creep in during the recording. But I think the French aria came out pretty good.

I hope you will take a listen to these new recordings and send me your feedback!
