Among the strings attached for the billions given to GM and Chrysler: unionized workers have to accept wage concessions.
I heard a soundbite from a union official complaining that such concessions are a double standard, because no one asked highly-paid Wall Street financial industry workers to take pay cuts. And certainly those firms have gotten much more government money.
I wonder if the news media has adequately addressed this, because the double standard does seem painfully apparent. Since when did workers become culpable actors in this financial mess?
